10 of the Best: “That Guy!”

We all know these guys but it’s always been a case of  “where have I seen him before?” So here are 10 actors who have been working in the industry for years but haven’t earned the love/respect they deserve.

Brion James – 48 Hrs, Tango and Cash, Striking Distance, Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, Red Scorpion and Red Heat to name a few. He played the bad guy in so many films in the 80’s and 90’s, I only found out recently that he sadly passed away in 1999. RIP sir.

Al  Leong – A legend in the action genre. Leong was in Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Replacement Killers, Death Warrant, Escape from LA, They Live, Action Jackson and Big Trouble in Little China. Al rarely says anything in his movies; in fact the only movie I can think of where he speaks is Lethal Weapon when he tortures Riggs in the shower. Respect is due to the greatest henchman of all time.

Brian Thompson – The bad guy in Cobra also starred in The Terminator, The X-Files TV Series, Lionheart, Rage & Honor and many more. He would rarely play a good guy due to his fierce countenance but he is always very memorable in every role.

Marco Rodríguez – Fast & Furious, The Rookie (1990), The Crow, Street Knight, Maniac Cop 2, Internal Affairs and Cobra are a select few from Marco’s resume. Another actor who rarely gets to play good guys but has done on a couple of occasions.

Ed O’Ross – Red Heat, Another 48 Hrs., Lethal Weapon, Universal Soldier, Walker Texas Ranger, Dick Tracy and Action Jackson. Ed is still working strong today but in the 80’s and 90’s he played so many bad guys, even in a role when it was meant to be a surprise as soon as he’s on screen you’d shout “It’s him” because he’s ALWAYS a villain.

Billy Drago – Delta Force 2, Deadly Heroes, The Outfit, The Lords of Salem, Hero and the Terror, the Untouchables and Invasion USA. Billy Drago has made a name for himself playing villains but none are greater than Ramon Coat in Delta Force 2. He’s another actor that as soon as he’s on screen you know he’s the bad guy.

Thomas Rosales Jr. – Con Air, Iron Man, Act of Valor, Collateral, US Marshalls, Replacement Killers, Heat, Speed, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Last Action Hero, Nowhere to Run, Universal Soldier, Kindergarten Cop. This is a man who has starred in practically every action movie ever made. He’s another actor who rarely says anything and is only on screen for a few minutes but any time you see him, once again HE’S THE BADDIE!

Sven-Ole Thorsen – Gladiator, The Running Man, Lethal Weapon, Hostage, Collateral Damage, End of Days, Eraser, On Deadly Ground, Hard target, The Last Action Hero, Nowhere to Run, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, Twins and Red Heat. Notice a pattern? He’s in practically every Arnie movie and is another actor who rarely says anything, mainly due to his strong accent.

Mark Margolis – Daredevil, Hannibal, End of Days, Absolute Power, Delta Force 2 and Scarface. Always plays slightly creepy guys and I’m pretty sure he chews broken glass for breakfast. He was pretty scary in Daredevil and was one of the best things about it.

Peter Greene – Pulp Fiction, The Mask, Training Day, Under Siege 2 and Judgment Night. Greene was THE henchmen/villain of the 90’s and once again was just plain scary. He was in an episode of Hawaii Five 0 last year and was still equally as terrifying as an ex-cop looking for revenge.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it’s a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone.
