5 80’s Cartoons that Might Make Good Movies…

… but probably not!

They always sound good in theory, but very few actually work out. I think we can all agree though that 80’s cartoons ALL had the best theme songs of all time. Anyway, here are a few of my childhood movies that could be re-done in movie form.

1. M.A.S.K. – G.I. Joe meets Transformers; these were my favourite toys growing up and with today’s visual effects it would be breeze to create some pretty awesome action scenes. Just leave out T-Bob this time… prick.

2. Thundercats – I don’t really see any way of making a decent live action version of this to be honest but a new CGI movie could probably work.

3. He-Man – Admittedly I enjoyed the Dolph movie at the time and even saw it in the cinema, alas time has not been kind to it and an update is required. Forget bringing it to Earth, keep it in Eternia and go to town with the fantasy visuals. Ram Man is essential.

4. Centurions – I wasn’t a HUGE fan of this, in fact it was kinda lame but you could update it once again and make it cool. The synopsis was something like: “In the near future, an evil genius, the cyborg Doc Terror, seeks to conquer the Earth. He is assisted by Hacker, the cyborg sidekick and an army of Doom Drones.” OK, so maybe we could change a few names but… ah never-mind.

5. Ulysses 31 – This show was frankly a work of genius which was a great concept and has one of the all time great opening theme songs. Ulysses, Ulysses, soaring through all the galaxies, in search of Earth, flying into the night! Now you’ve got it going through your head haven’t you? Mwahaha! P.S. He MUST maintain his righteous beard otherwise, no dice!

Honourable mention: Dino-Riders – I did a Dreamteams about this a while back and although good in theory, the bad guy is a toad, the hero has a blond bowl-cut and they have stupid names….but it does have dinosaurs with rocket launchers, so I’d pay to watch it.
