NBC Picks Up TV Drama, FIRST RESPONDERS; Vin Diesel To Produce

Televison will be the next foray for actor Vin Diesel who is now targeting the new drama, First Responders. The show is the latest move for the actor and prolific star and producer of the xXx and Fast And Furious film franchises following his first look deal late last year, signed with Universal Television.

Casting details are still pending while it is known that Diesel will take on an executive producer role through his One Race TV shingle next to Samantha Vincent, as well as ASAP Entertainment’s Jeff Fierson and Brad Peyton, the latter who will direct. NCIS series and video game scribe for titles like “Titanfall” and “Call Of Duty”, writer Jesse Stern will provide the script for the show which reads as follows, according to Variety:

“First Responders” is described as a dynamic, high-action procedural about young veterans struggling to reintegrate into society, while heroically saving civilian lives along the way. The elite team is the best Search and Rescue operation in the country, and is run by husband-and-wife duo, Doc and Lil Pierce, whose Southern California coastal base provides a sense of community and surrogate family for their ex-military staff. While Doc and Lil can save anyone else’s life in the darkest times, they have been unable to find their own son and will stop at nothing to solve the mystery of his disappearance and bring him back home.

As for Diesel’s upcoming big screen endeavors, D.J. Caruso’s action threequel xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage, the F. Gary Gray-directed Fast 8 and James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 2 open respectively in Janaury, April and May of next year.
